INFO: Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties hosts it’s September meeting on the 9th. The public meeting includes discussion of matters of regional importance to health and wellness, And they also recently collected tents, sleeping bags, and toiletries for evacuees of the recent and continuing fires. They have weekly women and men groups that address various topics specific to issues and concerns in the recovery process. They also hold monthly meetings in which Peer Recovery support specialists help individuals in recovery. They also hold a monthly community event providing a fun atmosphere where individuals and families can learn about various pathways of recovery.

INFO: HEROS consist of men and women who invest time with young people, promoting education, goal attainment, job placement, and decision-making skills. Their services include mentoring, professional development, life skills education, conflict/anger resolution. Although they have no recent activities or events, they have however in the past held events such as "Lift us up, don't push us out," to raise awareness of issues that disadvantaged youth face. And a summer enrichment program where young men and women learn the importance of education, goal attainment, careers, and decision making skills.
