INFO: * Promote, aid and encourage public recreation, including the acquisition and development of recreation and park facilities.
* Maintenance, development, finance and operation of all City-owned or operated recreation areas and facilities, and developing rules and regulations governing the use of those facilities.
* Establish time schedules for acquisition, lease, dedication or exchange of lands for recreation or park purposes, and the development of park and recreation master plans, site plans, and operating plans..
* Annual budgets for recreation and park facilities, programs, and special events.
* Use and availability of facilities, rates, tolls and charges for services.
* Financial advocate for recreation program services, so that it may receive adequate support from public officials, citizens, businesses, non-government organizations, and maintenance operation.
MANDATES: Members of the Recreation and Parks Commission are appointed for terms of three years by city council. The Recreation and Parks Commission reviews acquisition and development plans for the City's park system and maintenance practices of the park system. The Commission also reviews recreation programs and makes recommendations to the City Council.
MEETINGS: Third Tuesday of each month for approximately 2 hours. Some meetings are held jointly with City of Sparks and Washoe County

INFO: The purpose of the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee (SCAC) is to advise the City Council on matters relating to senior citizens, to promote and support senior-oriented special events and collaborative efforts that meet the needs of seniors, and to serve as an advocacy body on behalf of older adults in the community.
MANDATES: Sec. 2.08.660 in 1995 & Article X. Committee Chairperson and a maximum of eight (8) other members who are appointed by the Reno City Council, along with an ex-officio from the Washoe County Senior Services.

INFO: A community arts non-profit corporation that provides resources to encourage awareness, appreciation, accessibility, and development of the arts.
MISSION: To increase the number of insured Nevadans by facilitating the purchase and sale of health insurance that provides quality health care through the creation of a transparent, simplified marketplace of qualified health plans.
INFO: The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange is the state agency that operates the online Marketplace known as Nevada Health Link where eligible Nevada consumers can shop for, compare, and purchase quality and affordable health insurance plans with ease. The Exchange facilitates and connects eligible Nevadans who are not insured by their employer, Medicaid, or Medicare to health insurance options.
MANDATES: Operates Nevada Health Link, the state's ACA marketplace. Facilitates the purchase of Qualified Health Plans and administers subsidy assistance.
MEETINGS: Board Meetings are held quarterly on the third Tuesday starting at 1:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Workshops/Public meetings are held as needed.

MISSION: The City of Sparks Arts and Culture Advisory Committee supports the community by facilitating investment in the arts and culture in order to nurture creative communities, enhance quality of life and encourage civic pride.
INFO: To support the community by facilitating investment in the arts and culture in order to nurture creative communities, enhance quality of life and encourage civic pride. Objectives: Improve the quality of life in Sparks through art and cultural activities to celebrate Sparks’ heritage. Differentiate the City of Sparks from other cities and their arts programs. Identify and celebrate the uniqueness of Sparks thereby blending its historical and industrial roots. Provide more formal recognition to existing and future art and culture activities in Sparks. Adopt policies and procedures for the provision of arts and cultural activities on public property in Sparks; and Act in a formal structure and offer advice to the Sparks City Council on art and cultural activities in Sparks. Accept informed citizen input which is considered essential to the creation of the guidelines and plan for art and cultural activities in Sparks.

MEETINGS: The Arts and Culture Committee meets the third Tuesday of each month. The meeting schedule is determined by the chair, but there are no less than six meetings per year.
