INFO: The Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board (RAAB) plays a key role in advancing the goals of the Redevelopment Agency by assessing proposed redevelopment projects and providing recommendations to the Redevelopment Agency Board
MANDATES: The Redevelopment Agency Board is currently comprised of the Mayor, who serves as the Chairperson, and the members of the Reno City Council, who serve on the Board. The Chairperson and the members of the Board are all voting members. Nine members appointed by the Redevelopment Agency Board and represents residents, business owners, and property owners within the redevelopment areas with diverse expertise and experience related to redevelopment.
MEETINGS: The number of meetings per month and a schedule of meeting dates shall be established by the Chair of the REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADVISORY BOARD “RAAB” and the RENO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY.

INFO: The purpose of the Redevelopment Agency is to attract and assist businesses both independently and through public-private partnerships, to energize the Truckee River, to eliminate physical and social blight, and to develop a mix of uses including quality downtown housing, all of which will improve the quality of life for our citizens, create value, and position the City as the economic, civic, recreational, cultural, and entertainment capital of the region.

Regional Transmission Task Force

INFO: The Regional Water Planning Commission RWPC was created in 1995 to provide a forum and method for the planning and coordination of water use, flood control and wastewater management throughout the region.
The RWPC is comprised of 9 voting members and alternates, and 8 non-voting members and alternates.
MEETINGS: Meetings are held the first and third Wednesday of each month, at 1:30 p.m., at the Washoe County Administrative Complex, at 9th and Wells, in the County Commission Chambers (unless otherwise posted). All meetings are open to the public.
Reno Arts and Culture Commission

INFO: The work of the RACC is anchored in the idea that arts and culture are created and consumed in a dynamic ecosystem within the community. Reno’s creative ecosystem is substantially more robust than comparable cities with a large number of nonprofit cultural organizations, small and large arts-related business, music, schools and universities and individual artists and creative workers of all types. Supporting all of these formal and structured creative entities are the thoughts of Reno citizens who attend and support arts activities throughout the City.

The RACC believes that ALL Reno citizens should be able to participate in a creative life.
MANDATES: Reviews funding artists for various city opportunities and presents funding recommendations to City Council. Annual funding recommendation totals unknown.
MEETINGS: Met monthly until April 2025 when put on pause.
Reno Financial Advisory Board

INFO: * Review and evaluate the city's investment policy annually and recommend changes to the City Council.
* Annually review the comprehensive annual financial report, management letter and budget document.
* Review annually, revenue estimating procedures and recommend changes as necessary.
* Examine the city's financial condition and make recommendations for improvement.
MANDATES: Ordinance No. 6647. Code Title 2 Article VII. The Financial Advisory Board reviews current policies and procedures relating to City finances and makes recommendations for improving the City's financial condition. 11 members appointed by the City Council.

Reno Historical Resources Commission

INFO: The purpose of the Historical Resources Commission (HRC) is to act as the official advisor to the City of Reno on matters relating to the historic preservation of cultural resources and buildings. The Commission recommends to the Council possible uses and funding options for historic buildings, places and sites. The HRC also suggests policy and ordinance changes to the City Council relating to historic buildings and sites.
MANDATES: Ch 18.08.904 . The HRC shall consist of seven members, who are residents of the State of Nevada, each appointed by an affirmative vote of no less than four members of the City Council, which includes the mayor. At all times, five commissioners shall be residents of the City of Reno.

INFO: The Board of Commissioners are responsible for setting policy and supervising the Executive Director.
MANDATES: They are appointed by the Mayor of Reno and confirmed by the City Council to serve four-year terms. One of the five must be a tenant in an RHA program.

Reno Human Rights Commission

INFO: The Human Rights Commission was created to serve as a forum for discussion of human rights issues and to propose solutions for the improvement of human relations in the city, and will make recommendations to the City Council with regard to the development of programs for the promotion of social justice, diversity/inclusion, equal opportunity and human dignity among all citizens and visitors of the city. Meetings discussed many local events.
MANDATES: Not in City code.
MEETINGS: Meets Quarterly. Has not met in 2025.
Reno Neighborhood Advisory Boards

INFO: The City of Reno is divided into six City Council wards. Each of these wards has one representative on the Reno City Council. NAB meetings are your chance to learn about neighborhood happenings, train on government leadership, and discuss community issues with your neighbors. Key objectives for NAB meetings:
1. Improve communication between Reno citizens, City staff, and City Council Members.
2. Provide citizens the opportunity for early engagement on important community issues.
3. Create a venue for citizens to review and provide feedback on certain development projects.
MANDATES: Code 18.08.305. 18.02.603. Each of the city council members are supposed to select representatives from their ward to serve on the Neighborhood Advisory Board (NAB).
MEETINGS: All 6 boards are supposed to meet every month.
Reno Planning Commission

INFO: The Reno City Planning Commission advises the City Council on the long term physical development of the City including such issues as natural resources, economics, housing, population, land use and zoning. The Planning Commission reviews all major development projects proposed within the City and also provides a forum for public comment on issues dealing with development of our community.
MANDATES: NRS 278, 281A , and Chapter 2.20 of the Reno Municipal Code * By-Laws driven.
* 7 members with four year terms appointed by council members. Members hold no other public office, are residents of the City, and registered voters.
* Serve and advise the City Council on future physical planning and economic development of the City.
* Serve and advise the City Council on urban planning including policy development, community design, natural resource conservation and enhancement, economics, housing, land use, population, streets, zoning, subdivision regulation, transportation, the comprehensive plan, etc.
* No Commissioner may serve more than two full consecutive terms as Chair.
MEETINGS: The regular meeting dates shall be the first and third Wednesdays of each month commencing at 6:00 p.m. There shall be at least one regular meeting per month which may be a joint meeting with City of Sparks and Washoe County.
