In 2016, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 55.035, to create an Animal Services Advisory Board. The purpose of the Animal Services Advisory Board is to strengthen the communication between the community and WCRAS, and to allow a public platform to hear updates centered around WCRAS. The updates may consist of program and service statistics, emerging developments, financial or budgetary updates, events and accomplishments and proposed goals or objectives for the department.

They are encouraging large group employers to go digital to strengthen new and current clients' connection to Anthem via employer resource center. Anthem is also promoting paperless communication starting last month in August. Earlier this year Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Nevada Medicaid health plan has committed $75,000 to fund a new University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) initiative called "See It To Be It".One of 4 health care providers available through Medicaid. Low-cost coverage for children adults and families in Nevada.

Operation School Bell provides students from families living in poverty and the very low income with help. There is also support for immigrants. There may be backpacks, shoes, pencils, and free clothes/uniforms for kids.

Family/Seniors-Subsidized-Using Low Income Housing Tax Credit. In projects with five or more HOME assisted units, at least 20% of these units must be occupied by families earning 50% or less of area median income. Helping individuals help themselves with the assistance of professional staff who will assist you in connecting to: Basic living needs - Medical care - Connection to self-help groups - Vocational rehabilitation & job training - Educational assistance - Applications for benefit programs - Life skills training - and Referral to other programs tailored to the needs of the individual client. Also known as Transitional Housing Program (THP) and TRAIN. Residents are enrolled in a program that offers housing and associated wrap-around services including case management, substance abuse counseling, onsite drug and alcohol testing, behavioral health support, employment support/work opportunities, and other tools to help each resident establish a new, more productive path in life.
